WINNERS OF THE SHIRES INTER CLUB CHALLENGE 2003

The objectives of Beacon Riding Club are to encourage riding as a sport and for recreation, to promote good fellowship among riders and to improve and maintain facilities for riding.

Our activities include Cross Country, One Day Events, Show Jumping, Working Hunter, Equitation and Showing Classes.

We publish our events on this site in a printed Schedule and in the Farmers Guardian

Beacon Riding Club has been in existence for many years. Originally shows were held at Beacon Country Park, hence the name, and latterly at Charity Farm, Wrightington.

The facilities on offer are second to none thanks to the generosity of Fred & Phyllis Waring of Charity Farm and the dedication and hard work of the Committee Members and the support of our Sponsors and Members. The club is non profit making and all of the money raised through events is used to enhance the excellent facilities already on offer and to assist the members in pursuit of their sport.

The club caters for both the young and old alike. With classes for total beginners on lead reins to one day events and puissance show jumping for our more experienced competitors.

Each year the club hosts a number of shows and events beginning in April and ending in October, ranging from In hand and Ridden classes, Showing, Show Jumping, One Day Events and Cross Countries.

During the season there are six points shows at which members compete to try to win their class and become a Trophy winner at the end of season presentation evening and to secure a place at the ' Festival of Champions' which to many is the Wembley of the Riding Club circuit. There are also Cross Country and One Day Events that are supported by both members and non-members of the club coming from a far a field as Cumbria and Stoke.

A day out at Beacon is well worth while both for competitors or on lookers, you will be able to relax in the lovely countryside, have a bite to eat whether from the mobile refreshment bar or one of the many local pubs and enjoy a fun packed day.
